Student placement test
We measure your child's English level with the CEFR-based Panoramic Placement Test, and give schools a nationally benchmarked report through the Caterpillar / Butterfly / Owl Language Performance exams.

The first step towards the right class and the right programme is knowing where a child genuinely stands today. That is why we assess at two levels: the CEFR-based Panoramic Placement Test for individual students, and the Caterpillar / Butterfly / Owl Language Performance exams for primary and secondary schools, held each term and each year.

For parents: the Panoramic Placement Test
The Panoramic Placement Test is built on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Its result is read on the shared A1-to-C2 scale, which means the same thing anywhere in the world. It is not a pass-or-fail exam: the aim is to see where a child is strong and where there is room to grow, and to find the group that will feel neither too easy nor too hard. Based on the result we recommend a suitable group, and we are glad to go through the result with you.
For schools: Caterpillar / Butterfly / Owl Language Performance
For a school leader the real question is: how does our students' English compare with other schools across Turkey? Our Language Performance exams, held each term and each year, give a comparative answer. You can benchmark your students against other primary and secondary schools, see where your institution stands nationally, and plan language teaching on the basis of data.

How it works
- 1
Tell us what you need
As a parent, tell us your child's age and previous experience with English; as a school, the year groups and the number of students.
- 2
The test takes place
Individual students sit the Panoramic Placement Test; school exams are scheduled on a date that suits the school calendar.
- 3
Results are reported
A CEFR level and a group recommendation for the student; a nationally benchmarked language map for the school.
- 4
We draw up a road map together
Your child joins the right group; the school receives the comparative language-map report; we review the results together and you use them in your own language-teaching planning.
